Josh McKenna’s relationship with the pool industry started long before he owned a company.
Raised in Naples, Josh spent his early years around pool construction and began learning the work from the field—plastering pools, painting decks, and gaining firsthand exposure to the trades and processes behind a finished project. Over the course of his career, that experience grew to include oversight of thousands of swimming pools across Southwest Florida.
Today, Josh leads Suncoast Custom Pools® as both a builder and an entrepreneur.
His focus is not growth for growth’s sake. It is about building a company that can grow without losing the qualities that earned it its reputation.
That means investing in strong trade relationships. Building clearer systems for communication and project management. Staying close to clients and construction. Holding people accountable. And creating a company where “we’ll take care of it” has to mean something.
For Josh, entrepreneurship is not separating himself from the work. It is creating an organization capable of doing excellent work repeatedly.

Pools With a Purpose
Being a pool builder carries a responsibility that extends beyond construction.
Through Pools With a Purpose, Suncoast Custom Pools® supports water-safety awareness and access to swim lessons from local providers across Southwest Florida.
The initiative is funded primarily through proceeds from the annual Suncoast Signature Cup® tournament, which brings together clients, partners, friends and members of the community to help expand access to water-safety resources and swim instruction.
We build pools because of what happens around them: families gathering, children learning to swim, and friends spending more time together.
